Officers with the New York Police Department had to escort far-left activists from a Drag Story Hour hosted by Leftist New York Attorney General Letitia James on Sunday after they previously said "Queer Spaces Must Be No Cop Zones" and protested James' involvement in the event.

Video captured by NJEG Media shows police removing the counter protestors from the event titled "Drag Story Hour NYC with New York State Attorney General Letitia James," held at the LGBTQ+-centric The Center located in NYC's West Village.

Those protesting drag queens reading to children and counter protestors advocating for the opposite gathered outside the location after James announced the event on social media with a flier that targeted "families with children."

Police presence was increased after far-left activists in the LGBTQ+ community sent out a digital flier denouncing James for the event. The flier read "We, community members who have spent the past half a year organizing defenses in support of drag story hours in NYC, are extremely dismayed at DSHNYC's decision to partner with AG Tish James for this event. DSHNYC is choosing to partner with the head law enforcement actor in the state — a person whose literal job it is to decide who, including kids, gets thrown in cages. To put it bluntly — it's f*cked up DSHNYC invited James."

"Despite our firm opposition to DSHNYC's partnership with Tish James, we will be there. We will be there not for the electeds, nor for the attorney general. We will be there to shield kids and their adults attending the drag story hour from fascist harassment, militarized police, and opportunistic politicians who consistently enable violence against our queer community. We will be there to say NO to the NYPD's repression and violence against queer people, and to its enabling of the far right. We will be there to celebrate the creative joy, strength, and resilience of queer life now and through the ages," the activists said. Police eventually had to remove several of those counter-protestors at the event.

Both the protestors and counter-protestors shouted at James as she left the event. One woman screamed "Why'd you let that white b*tch run for governor," likely referring to New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

The Pride Center of Staten Island and the Queens Public Library co-sponsored the event which was thrown with the assistance of State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal and Assemblymembers Deborah Glick, Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas, Daniel O’Donnell, Tony Simone, and Council Members Erik Bottcher, Tiffany Caban, Crystal Hudson, Shekar Krishnan, Chi Ossé, and Lynn Schulman.

Hoylman sponsored a bill making New York a "sanctuary state" for children seeking medical gender transition and has repeated the claim that "trans women are women."

Hoylman-Sigal wrote on Twitter, "Families with children are very welcome. Hate-fueled bigotry is not."

Protestors booed and shouted "groomer" at performers as they left the event.

The protests even continued on the streets after the event concluded.
