Decision Desk HQ projected that Democratic challenger St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell won with over 54 percent of the vote.
Bush is the second member of Squad to lose reelection following Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s (D-NY) loss earlier this year. A huge amount of money poured into the race to unseat the defund the police activist. Many pro-Israel groups spent money in the race to stop Bush from getting a third term in Congress following her comments that many saw as siding with Hamas terrorists against the Jewish state. On Monday, Bush refused to label Hamas a terrorist organization claiming that she needed to be careful about labeling.
According to The Hill, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the United Democracy Project (UDP), AIPAC’s super PAC, groups that Bush labeled as "racist," spent approximately $9 million to defeat the radical activist. Following the massacre of over 1,200 Israeli civilians and the kidnapping of over 250 more on October 7, Bush falsely labeled the Jewish state's retaliation against Hamas as an “ethnic cleansing campaign.” In her concession speech, Bush said “We will keep supporting a free Palestine,” to cheers from her supporters.
Bush was also heavily criticized for being one of the spokespeople for the defund the police movement and then spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on private security.
Bush was under investigation by the Department of Justice for alleged misuse of federal funds for private security. Bush also referred to herself as "birthing person" in congressional testimony about maternal mortality rates.
