Keith Olbermann has issued an apology after posting and then deleting messages toward CNN commentator Scott Jennings that some online took as threats—comments Jennings later flagged to the FBI.

“Yesterday I wrote and immediately deleted 2 responses to him about Kimmel because they could be misinterpreted as a threat to anything besides his career,” Olbermann admitted. “I immediately replaced them with ones specifying what I actually meant.” He added, “I oppose and condemn political violence, and the threat of it… I should’ve acknowledged the deletion and apologized yesterday. I’m sorry I delayed.”

The dustup began after Jennings commented on Jimmy Kimmel’s temporary suspension over remarks about Charlie Kirk, saying: “So basically his employer suspended him for being an insensitive prick, and we don’t live in an authoritarian regime? Got it.”

Olbermann fired back: “We won, you stupid pieces of sh*t. Last fold to fascism was last week. Now we get the fascists off real tv. That’d mean your career is next, Jennings. Send a tape to Real America’s Voice. But keep mugging to camera, amateur.”

In the exchange, Olbermann also allegedly posted, then deleted, a message that read: “You’re next, motherf*cker.” Jennings later tagged FBI Director Kash Patel with screenshots of the comments.
