Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, has been charged with attempting to provide material support for ISIS. Bowie allegedly planned the attack to kill lawmakers with a bomb placed in a DoorDash bag.
Bowie pledged allegiance to ISIS and started to plot the attack in July, according to a criminal complaint that was obtained by ABC News. When she was being interviewed by the FBI, she reportedly said, "There's no helping me, you guys know enough, there's no helping me, I'm ... going to prison for the rest of my life."
“Material support is up to 20 years in prison, I already Googled it before, I know I’m going to jail," she added, per the complaint. The suspect had converted to Islam around five years ago and subsequently pledged allegiance to ISIS.
Bowie allegedly bought bomb-making materials from the hardware store on August 5 and then plotted for two weeks while speaking to FBI informants. During the time leading up to the day she allegedly planned the attack, she tracked the building for weeks, taking pictures from various angles and vantage points, including an “observation hall nearby," the complaint stated.
The informants met with Bowie on Wednesday to provide her with an inert explosive device and inert firearm. She was soon arrested afterwards by the FBI.
