BREAKING: FBI cries 'conspiracy theories' and 'misinformation' in response to Elon Musk's Twitter Files

"The correspondence between the FBI and Twitter shows nothing more than examples of our traditional, longstanding, and ongoing federal government and private sector engagements, which involve numerous companies over multiple sectors and industries," the FBI said.

The FBI responded to the Twitter Files, troves of documents revealing the inner workings of Twitter's content management practices over the past few years, telling Fox News on Wednesday that "conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the American public misinformation with the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency."

The files, released by journalists Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, and their associates, show evidence of FBI involvement in Twitter's censorship of the New York Post's reporting on Hunter Biden's laptop, among other egregious violations of free speech.

"The correspondence between the FBI and Twitter shows nothing more than examples of our traditional, longstanding, and ongoing federal government and private sector engagements, which involve numerous companies over multiple sectors and industries," the FBI said.

The FBI went on to smear Musk and those who shared the files as "conspiracy theorists," who are promoting "misinformation."

"As evidenced in the correspondence, the FBI provides critical information to the private sector in an effort to allow them to protect themselves and their customers. The men and women of the FBI work every day to protect the American public. It is unfortunate that conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the American public misinformation with the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency," they said.

Twitter Files Part 7, shared by journalist Michael Shellenberger on Monday, broke down some of the shady inner dealings between the FBI and the social media giant. Namely, that the FBI paid Twitter millions of dollars and coached Twitter employees on how to deal with a "misinformation" dump regarding Hunter Biden.

"I am happy to report we have collected $3,415,323 since October 2019!" wrote a Twitter employee with Twitter's Safety, Content, & Law Enforcement (SCALE) team in a February 2021 email, showing that money changed hands between the agency and the social media giant.

In the previous edition of the Twitter Files, published by journalist Matt Taibbi, it was revealed that Twitter acted essentially as a "subsidiary" of the bureau.
