The Republican Party of Florida endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 election.
The endorsement happened at the Florida GOP annual meeting on Friday, Florida's Voice reports, and comes off the heels a resounding victories for Trump in several first up state primaries. Trump nearly doubled his Neveda GOP caucus support on Thursday.
GOP Duval County Chairman and Rep. Dean Black, of Jacksonville, made the motion to endorse Trump.
“This primary is over and the Florida GOP is united behind President Trump,” Black remarked. “Floridians can’t afford four more years of Crooked Joe Biden’s doddering weakness and ineptitude. We must stop America’s decline.”
State Republican Party Chairman Evan Power recently said that the GOP must “come together and put 100% of our focus on defeating Joe Biden and his failed administration in November.”
“The results of Iowa and New Hampshire make it clear that President Trump is the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party. Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Marco Rubio, and Senator Rick Scott have all called for us to unite behind Donald Trump,” Power said last month.
After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the Iowa Caucuses, Power endorsed Trump for the nomination earlier in January.
Immediately after dropping out of the race, DeSantis also endorsed Trump.
"It's clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance," DeSantis said at the time. "They watch his presidency gets stymied by relentless resistance, and they see Democrats using lawfare to this day to attack him."
