Trump suggests there will likely be 'changes' in RNC leadership away from Ronna

On Sunday, former President Donald Trump suggested that changes will be made at the Republican National Committee (RNC) in terms of how it is run.

In an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, Trump was asked about RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel's performance.

"She did great for me in Michigan. I think she did ok, initially, in the RNC," Trump responded. "I would say right now, there will probably be some changes made."

The comments followed Bartiromo questioning the strength of the RNC, she noted that the Democrats have all the money and that RNC chapters are struggling to pay their bills. "The money that they get, people are not looking at the RNC, they want changes," Trump said.

"You have to understand, I have nothing to do with the RNC," he added.

Trump has previously called for changes at the RNC if they didn't stop hosting primary debates and started focusing on saving money to fight the Democrats. "RNC must save money on lowest ever ratings debates. Use it against the Democrats to STOP THE STEAL! If not, REVAMP THE RNC, NOW," he said.

McDaniel was pushed into the spotlight during a GOP presidential debate in November when then-candidate Vivek Ramaswamy called out her failures as the GOP chair. "There is something deeper going on in the Republican Party," he said.

"We've become a party of losers," Ramaswamy continued. "Let's speak the truth. Since Ronna McDaniel took over as chairwoman of the RNC in 2017, we have lost 2018, 2020, 2022, no red wave, that never came. We got trounced last night [Nov. 7] in 2023."

He went on to call for McDaniel's resignation. "I think we have to have accountability in our party. For that matter Ronna, if you want to come on stage, you want to look the GOP voters in the eye, and tell them you resign ... I will yield my time to you," he said.

During his performance, Ramaswamy noted the fact that NBC was hosting the debate, instead of people like "Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan, and Elon Musk" who would ask "questions the GOP primary voters actually care about."

In response to the Post Millennial asking whether McDaniel should be fired on X, Ramaswamy said, "Ronna McRomney sitting atop the RNC reminds me of a squatter in a rent-controlled apartment. It’s time to evict."
