Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced in a press conference today that he would be rolling out legislation that would allow a great deal of businesses to open up.

So far, Ford has said that the businesses allowed to resume operations will be garden centres, lawn care and maintenance companies, auto dealerships, and essential construction projects.

Previously, all of these industries had been suffering as a result of the province's lockdown.

Speaking to reporters at Queen's Park, Ford said that these businesses must follow "proper health and safety guidelines" if they are to reopen.

The Ford government also clarified what he considered "essential construction" to be—namely, municipal projects, colleges and universities, child care centres, and schools.

"We are in a position now to look at what we can start to open up safely. And based on our framework, based on our robust health and safety guidelines, it is clear that right now, there are certain businesses and workplace that can operate safely," said the premier.

"We have consulted with our chief medical officer and today we are able to move forward with opening a small list of very specific businesses."

Over recent days, more and more premiers have created plans which would allow their province to move past the lockdown restrictions. Out of all of these, Scott Moe's plan for Saskatchewan seems to be the most audacious.

In the first round of procedures, Moe will allow dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, opticians, podiatry, and chiropractic treatment to continue their operations.
