The DNC audience began to chant "lock him up," as Clinton nodded and smiled along with the chant.
Clinton told the audience of Trump going on trial in New York City and being convicted on 34 felony counts of falsified business records. The case was brought by DA Alvin Bragg based on a case that had previously been dropped by the Federal Election Commission surrounding "hush money" accusations against Trump.
Clinton told the audience, “As a prosecutor, Kamala locked up murderers and drug traffickers. She will never rest in defense of our freedom and safety. Donald Trump fell asleep at his own trial and when he woke up, he made his own kind of history—the first person to run for president with 34 felony convictions." After she made the comment, the audience began to chant "lock him up," as she nodded and smiled along with the chant.
Clinton claimed that Trump “only cares about himself” and that Harris is the one that is “for the people.” She added, “Kamala cares, cares about kids and families, cares about America. Donald only cares about himself,” Clinton said.
"He's mocking her name and her laugh. Sounds familiar," Clinton said during her speech, adding that the Democrats “have him on the run now.”
Clinton said of Harris, “I know her heart and her integrity. We both got our start as young lawyers, helping children who were abused and neglected." She then added to the speech, applauding Harris for her pro-abortion policy push to “restore abortion rights nationwide."
Clinton also honored Biden in her speech, calling him "Democracy's champion" and that the elderly president brought "competence back to the White House."
Speakers during the Monday evening at the DNC aside from Clinton included Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, along with many others. President Joe Biden is set to end the night with a speech and then go on vacation to California.
