In response to the Center for Disease Controls and Prevention's (CDC) announcement reversing their masking recommendations on Tuesday, instructing even vaccinated Americans to once again wear masks indoors, including teachers and students, former President Donald Trump issued a statement vowing not to comply.

"We won’t go back. We wont mask our children."

Trump added, "Joe Biden and his administration learned nothing from the last year. Brave Americans learned how to safely and responsibly live and fight back."

The former president emphasized, "Don't go back. Why do Democrats distrust the science? Don’t let this happen to our children and our country."

The CDC previously advised masks to be worn indoors by all individuals aged 2 and older who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The agency also  said that those who are fully vaccinated did not need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky noted that vaccinated individuals represent a small percentage of new virus transmission and that the agency continues to "estimate the risk of a breakthrough infection with symptoms upon exposure to the delta variant is reduced by seven-fold."
