"An ISIS flag was located in the vehicle and the FBI is working to determine the subject's potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organizations," read the media advisory from the FBI.
Images from his now defunct X account show that Jabbar was concerned about the Hollywood portrayal of black men, saying "Is anyone making a movie with a black man playing a character that is not submissive, immoral, or silly/immature? Haven't seen one since Black Panther."
Another post indicated that he had concerns about the way the Qur'an was being interpreted.
"Weapons and a potential IED were located in the subject's vehicle. Other potential lEDs were also located in the French Quarter. The FBI's Special Agent Bomb Technicians are working with our law enforcement partners to determine if any of these devices are viable and they will work to render those devices safe." After IEDs were found on the scene, a bomb squad detonated one at 8:30 am.
"The FBI is the lead investigative agency, and we are working with our partners to investigate this as an act of terrorism. We are aggressively running down all leads to identify any possible associates of the subject." The FBI also urged tipsters to call in with any information they may have.
Andy Ngo posted photos of Jabbar. He was a father and a veteran. He was also selling weapons.
The Daily Signal's Colin Aamot had previously posted images of the suspect.
Earlier reports from Fox News indicated that authorties do not believe that Jabbar was acting alone but was involved with a potential 4-5 additional suspects. Details have not yet emerged about that potentiality.
Jabbar was identified as a property manager from a veteran owned real estate firm in Houston, Tex. which is where it is believed the white, EV Ford F-150 was rented via the carsharing app Turo.
