Biden also said that “over 100 people” have died from Covid-19.
President Joe Biden spoke to reporters on Tuesday and claimed to have ended cancer once and for all.
In a peculiar speech delivered at the White House on Tuesday, Biden falsely declared his administration has managed to “end cancer as we know it.”
“If you could do anything at all Joe, what would you do?” Biden hypothetically asked. He then said, “I said I’d cure cancer, and they looked at me like ‘why cancer?’ Because nobody thinks we can. That’s why, and we can. We ended cancer as we know it!”
Biden has previously promised to end cancer, as was observed in a State of the Union speech he delivered last year. This bizarre moment from Joe Biden comes after another from earlier that day when he proclaimed to an audience, “Before I say even more what’s on my mind, I’m now gonna leave this podium.” Biden also stated that “over 100 people” have died from Covid-19, and seemingly did not notice the flub, as he then added, “That’s 100 empty chairs around the kitchen table.”
He also had made it a campaign promise when he was running for President of the United States in 2019.
Furthermore, the White House has launched an initiative called the Cancer Moonshot, which has a stated objective of stopping over 4 million cancer deaths by 2047 and a more subjective goal of "improv[ing] the experience of people who are touched by cancer."
In terms of the White House's self-reported progress on the matter, current touted victories include millions of more dollars spent on various parts of the plan. The Cancer Moonshot White House page says nothing about if any lives have been saved since the plan first kicked off.
In 2020, Biden appeared to make the opposite type of mistake, asserting that 120 million people have passed away as a result of being infected with the Covid-19 virus.
In 2022, the Biden admin set a goal to reduce the cancer rate by 50% over the next 25 years.
