"The outpouring of support we have witnessed for the Vice President has been unprecedented."
Harris for enough delegates in that virtual roll call, delegates who were designated for Joe Biden, by voters who voted for Joe Biden, not Kamala Harris. The virtual roll call was orchestrated by party elites who continue to claim that Harris has a groundswell of "grassroots" support. Not only did she not win a primary in 2024, she was not running for president and was not on the ballot. She also did not win a single primary vote in 2020 when she was running for president and dropped out of the race after getting only 3% of polling in her party.
DNC Chair Jaime Harrison praised Harris for securing these delegates without actually having been elected by anyone other than the party powerful. "I am so proud," he said, "to confirm that Vice President Harris has earned more than a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be the nominee of the Democratic Party following the close of voting on Monday."
"The outpouring of support," he continued, "we have witnessed for the Vice President has been unprecedented. We knew your ballots would come back quickly."
Harris called in to accept the nomination of her party, a party that claims they need to win to save democracy. Harris, it must be noted, was not democratically nominated and was not voted for by American voters, simply by the delegates who were meant to vote for Biden at the convention.
"Of course I will officially accept your nomination next week once the virtual voting period is closed," Harris said, "but already I’m happy to know that we have enough delegates to secure the nomination. And later this month, we will gather in Chicago, united as one party where we’re going to have an opportunity to celebrate this historic moment together."
About an hour after the delegates Biden won in primaries across the country flipped for Harris, whoever is running President Biden's X account said "One of the best decisiosn I've made was picking Kamala Harris as my vice predicent. Now that she will be our party's nominee, I couldn't be prouder. Let's win this."
Harris is set to announce a running mate by Tuesday, and all eyes are on Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. The first joint campaign event for Harris and the unnamed VP contender will be in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Her acceptance of the nom at the convention will be ceremonious as there is no question who the Dems will attempt to send to the White House.
At a memorial for deceased Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Harris referred to herself as the president, and was cheered by the mourners in Houston.
