A manhunt and investigation were initiated Monday afternoon following the discovery of seven dead individuals in two residences in Joliet, coupled with a seemingly random homicide and shooting in Will County the day before. The suspect, 23-year-old Romeo Nance was found dead, with self-inflicted gun wounds, according to police.

This unfolds just one day after Will County deputies reported a "random" shooting incident in Joliet Township and the City of Joliet, resulting in one fatality and another individual sustaining injuries.

The grim discovery of the seven deceased individuals occurred around noon on Monday within two homes situated in the 2200 block of West Acres Road in Joliet. One residence housed five victims, while the other contained two.

Some of those victims were identified: Christine Esters, 38, Tamaeka Nance, 47, William Esters, 35, Joshua Nance, 31, and Alexandria Nance, 20.

The names of two other victims, minor age girls, were not released.

The victim of the Sunday incident is 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare, an Nigerian national, who was apparently shot in the head while leaving his apartment.

There is an unclear motive at present, and details connecting the suspect to the victims remain elusive. However, it has been confirmed that law enforcement believes there is a familial link between the suspect and the victims.

Law enforcement searched for 23-year-old Romeo Nance, who was suspected to be operating a red Toyota Camry bearing license plate number Q73 0412. Nance was described as 6-foot-2 in height and weighing 160 pounds.

"I've been a policeman 29 years and this is probably the worst crime scene I've ever been associated with," Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans said.
