At least 10 people were injured in a shooting that took place inside the Mall of Louisiana on Thursday afternoon.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse said in a press conference said that police received reports at around 1:22 local time of shots fired in the food courtyard area of the mall. He said that the scene is no longer active, and there is no known threat to the community.

"We found out, looking through surveillance videos, it looks like it was kind of a targeted—two groups of people got into an argument inside the food court and started shooting at each other," he said. "Unfortunately, there were some innocent people that were in the area that might have also caught some rounds."

He said that there are currently 10 victims at local hospitals, some who were transported by EMS, and some who were brought to the hospital in private vehicles.

He said that authorities were still going through the mall to locate people who may have been sheltering in place to evacuate them. He urged the community to call Crime Stoppers if they have any information regarding the case.

Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards said, "to the thugs who did this, we’re going to catch you. Okay? We’re not going to have this in Baton Rouge. It’s not going to happen. And I have complete confidence in our law enforcement partners that we’re going to get—we’re going to go out and grab these guys and get them off the street."

Edward was asked about another recent mass shooting that took place in Louisiana, to which he said that people have "the right to be concerned."

"Sometimes the devil lives everywhere. And this is one of those situations. No matter how much law enforcement you got, or social programs or whatever, if someone gets in their mind that they're going to do something like this, they're going to do it, and that sometimes all we can do is respond. I just want the public to know that we got the finest, whether it's medical, law enforcement, all our agencies are the finest in the country to respond to these things."

This is a breaking story.
