"In her new role at the DOJ, Harmeet will be a tireless defender of our Constitutional Rights, and will enforce our Civil Rights and Election Laws FAIRLY and FIRMLY."
In a post, Trump said "I am pleased to nominate Harmeet K. Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice. Throughout her career, Harmeet has stood up consistently to protect our cherished Civil Liberties, including taking on Big Tech for censoring our Free Speech, representing Christians who were prevented from praying together during COVID, and suing corporations who use woke policies to discriminate against their workers. Harmeet is one of the top Election lawyers in the Country, fighting to ensure that all, and ONLY, legal votes are counted. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School, and clerked in the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Harmeet is a respected member of the Sikh religious community. In her new role at the DOJ, Harmeet will be a tireless defender of our Constitutional Rights, and will enforce our Civil Rights and Election Laws FAIRLY and FIRMLY. Congratulations, Harmeet!"
Dhillon is the founder and managing partner of California-based Dhillon Law Group, which was created to deal with Civil Rights violations against conservatives. Something of an anti-ACLU, the law group engages in First Amendment cases, employment law, anti-SLAPP cases, HR issues, election matters, and a wide range of other cases. Dhillon was a supporter of Trump during the campaign. She defended him against Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's suit against him in New York, telling Tucker Carlson it was a violation of due process.
"There is no concept of due process," Dhillon said. "There is no concept of even with a straight face attempting to tie the charges to something that you can prove in a court of law that could stand up on appeal."
The indictment, she said, was "really aimed at the American people."
"It's aimed at terrorizing people away from supporting a particular candidate," she said, "and it is meant to remind all of us that if they can do this to a former president, they can concoct false charges without even articulating what the charges are, against any American for political reasons, and that is a form of emotional terrorism."
Dhillon's nonprofit Center for American Liberty has represented The Post Millennial Senior Editor Andy Ngo and provided legal counsel for outlet-affiliated journalist Eva Knott. She has also represented James O'Keefe, Project Veritas, The Babylon Bee, and fought against the practices of so-called "gender-affirming care." The position is currently held by Kristen Clarke, who has made it her business to prosecute those who protest outside of abortion clinics, going as far as to jail elderly women for violating the FACE Act by professing their deeply-held religious beliefs.
