The debate will be held at CNN's studios in Atlanta on June 27.
CNN hosts Jake Tapper and Dana Bash have been announced as moderators for the first presidential debate between incumbent Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump.
The debate, which both candidates have agreed to participate in, is scheduled to take place on June 27 at CNN’s studios in Atlanta, the network announced in a statement.
The announcement marks the first time that Tapper or Bash will moderate a general election debate. CNN had previously selected Anderson Cooper to moderate a debate in 2016.
CNN has also stated that no audience members will be present at the debate. This measure is intended “to ensure candidates may maximize the time allotted in the debate,” according to the network.
Tapper previously pushed the infamous Steele dossier and Russiagate story which accused Trump of having ties to Russia. Tapper was even rewarded with the Merriman Smith Award for his coverage.
He repeatedly pushed the debunked conspiracy theory that the former president was "compromised" by Russia and Vladimir Putin but later admitted he was wrong in the wake of the Durham report, and that the findings exonerated the former president "to a degree."
This is a breaking story. Refresh for updates.
