"Joe Biden has been a fine president, but it’s time for him—in the interests of the America he so clearly loves—to announce he will not run for re-election."
"Joe Biden has been a fine president, but it’s time for him—in the interests of the America he so clearly loves—to announce he will not run for re-election," King wrote.
King has been a long-time opposer of Trump and has consistently posted about how he should not be in political office. King's call for Biden to step down comes after the incumbent president's disastrous debate with Trump in June. King has been a proponent of Biden in the lead up to the election.
On Sunday, King wrote, "Trump's cronies are planning what amounts to a fascist state, and the Supreme Court is clearing the way for them. This should concern conservatives as well as liberals."
The author posted in March of this year, "Trump runs his mouth and Biden runs America’s business. You choose."
After King's post turning his back on Biden, many poked fun at the left-wing author online. Elon responded to the post saying, "Even Stephen King is voting for Trump!"
Some left-wing accounts, on the other hand, were disappointed with King's call for Biden to step out of the race.
A fan of King mocked the post from the author, saying, "Stephen King has been a fine writer. But it’s time for him—in the interests of readers he so clearly loves—to announce that he will never write again. See how that works??"
King's call for Biden to step aside comes after mainstream media outlets such as the New York Times as well as left-wing pundits have called for Biden to step aside in the race. Biden, however, has vowed that he will be running against Trump in November.
