Golf legend Tiger Woods was injured in a single-vehicle roll-over accident Tuesday morning, according to a statement from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The single vehicle roll-over traffic collision took place on Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes. The vehicle took "major damage."
It was reported that the injuries are non-life-threatening.
Police say the vehicle was being operated by Woods, and that he was the only occupant in the vehicle. While initial reports say that Woods was extricated from the crash with the "jaws of life," a hydraulic rescue tool, an update from the Sherriff's office says that Woods required no such equipment to be extricated.
Woods was then taken to hospital and an investigation is underway.
"He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support," a statement from Woods' agent to Golf Digest said, adding that he sustained leg injuries. Alcohol was not believed to have been a factor.
