On Tuesday, Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer was nominated as the GOP’s pick for House Speaker.
This comes after four rounds of voting, in which Emmer was the top nominee each round.
According to Politico, Emmer received 78 votes in the first round, 90 in the second, 100 in the third round, and 107 in the fourth.
Eight candidates went into Tuesday’s closed-door conference meeting: Reps. Kevin Hern, Austin Scott, Jack Bergman, Pete Sessions, Tom Emmer, Mike Johnson, Byron Donalds, and Gary Palmer.
Palmer dropped out ahead of the vote, with Sessions being voted out in the first round, Bergman in the second, Scott in the third, and Hern and Donalds in the fourth.
According to CNN, Emmer received 117 votes in the fifth round, with Johnson receiving 97. Five members voted for other candidates, and one member voted present.
