Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave a firm warning to those Canadians who have still not received their COVID-19 vaccines.

Speaking to media in New Brunswick, Trudeau said that over 95 percent of new cases of COVID were in those who had not yet been immunized, and said that those who have not yet gotten a vaccine are playing a dangerous game.

"First of all," started the prime minister, "people who are hesitant about getting a vaccine need to know that consequences of getting COVID when unvaccinated are potentially extraordinarily severe... We know that the severe consequences of COVID, hospitalizations and the worst outcomes, will increasingly be almost entirely in unvaccinated individuals and pockets of the population."

"I know everyone is sick and tired of COVID... of restrictions that they have to go through... while the best way to get back to normal quickly is to get vaccinated, and we're going to continue with ad campaigns and provinces putting forward various incentive measures," he said.

"We're looking at insuring international vaccine credentials.. these are the things that people who are still hesitant are missing out on, while at the same time, they are putting themselves and their loved ones at risk of the serious implications of this disease."

Despite Canada's slow start, the country now ranks among the top in the world for fully immunized citizens. As of Monday, 76 percent of Canadians have received at least one dose, with 56 percent having been fully immunized.
