BREAKING: Trump says US will hit Iran 'very hard' tonight, take Kharg Island in 'not too distant future'

President Donald Trump has said that the US will be hitting Iran "very hard" on Thursday night, and that US forces will "be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela."

"The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT. At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

The comments from Trump come as the Iranian regime has said that the ceasefire between the US and Iran is "practically meaningless" after the US launched strikes against Iran in response to the regime downing a helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz.

On Wednesday afternoon, Central Command posted about the US carrying out strikes on multiple targets in Iran.

"U.S. Central Command forces began launching additional self-defense strikes today at 5:15 p.m. ET against multiple targets in Iran at the Commander in Chief’s direction. The strikes are in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression," the post said.

After making the post, Trump called in to Fox and Friends and said that his preference has always been to "take Kharg Island" in the conflict, and added that Iran is "in submission" as far as the conflict goes.
