A lawyer for 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has revealed that Trump has decided not to seek to move his 2020 Georgia election case from Fulton County to federal court.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a notice filed in Fulton Superior Court by attorneys Steve Sadow and Jennifer Little said the decision from Trump was based "on his well-founded confidence that this Honorable Court intends to fully and completely protect his constitutional right to a fair trial."

The notice came three weeks after Trump’s former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, had his request denied to move his case to federal court, with US District Court Judge Steve Jones saying in a ruling that Meadows did not meet the legal burden to move the case.

Four other defendants in the case have argued to transfer their cases, though rulings on these have yet to be issued.

Trump’s team had filed a document earlier this month notifying Georgia Superior Court judge Scott McAfee that he was potentially planning on moving his election interference case out of the state into federal court.

"President Trump hereby notifies the Court that he may seek removal of his prosecution to federal court under 28 U.S.C. §§ 1442 & 1455," attorney Steven Sadow wrote in a notice to McAfee.

"His written waiver of arraignment was filed on August 31, 2023. To be timely, his notice of removal must be filed within 30-days of his arraignment."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
