Toronto's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a police-involved shooting left a man and two police officers in hospital.
Police were responding to a call placed Tuesday morning regarding a man reportedly carrying a knife in the Moss Park neighbourhood of downtown Toronto.
The knife-wielding man was reportedly shot by police after attempts to deescalate the situation failed.
"An interaction took place in the stairwell with one other tenant and as a result of the interaction the gentleman has been transported to the hospital and the SIU mandate has been invoked," said Toronto Police Service Deputy Chief Peter Yuen, CP24 reports.
The man taken to hospital is in serious condition, while the condition of the officers is unknown.
