The only reasons legally allowed for people being out during the hours of curfew are for people to obtain food, to go to and from work, or for medical reasons.

Virginia's Governor Ralph Northam stated on Thursday that there would be a curfew effective throughout the whole state between 12 am midnight and 5 am the following day.

The only reasons legally allowed for people being out during those hours are for people to obtain food, to go to and from work, or for medical reasons.

According to Inside Nova,  other measures enacted at the same time include a mask order where one is required to wear a face mask indoors in public or outdoors when within six feet of others. In addition, social gatherings will be limited to 10 people.

These limits and regulations add to and supersede current limits and regulations in place, including those stating that restaurants and other similar establishments may not serve alcohol after 10pm and have to close by 12 am.

The new rules, however, do not apply to religious services, employment settings or educational settings.

Though Northam didn't ban religious services, he questioned those faithful who would attend worship services, saying "Is it the worship or the building? ... you do not need to sit in the church pews for God to hear your prayers."

Working from home is still strongly encouraged whenever possible, and school sports are still severely limited, with restrictions placed on the amount of athletes and spectators at any particular game.

The new orders will remain in effect until at least Jan. 31 of next year.
