Iran has launched a direct attack on Israel with “dozens of drones” according to a report by Axios. The attack marks the first time Iran has launched an attack from its own land against Israel.

Prior to the attack, Israel Defense Forces put the country on high alert, restricting the public from attending gatherings of over 1,000 people as concerns an Iranian attack was imminent.

“The IDF is on high alert and is constantly monitoring the operational situation. The IDF Aerial Defense Array is on high alert, along with IAF fighter jets and Israeli Navy vessels that are on a defense mission in Israeli air and naval space. The IDF is monitoring all targets,” Israel Defense Forces said in a statement on X.

In response to the attack, White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson stated that "President Biden is being regularly updated on the situation by his national security team and will meet with them this afternoon at the White House."

"His team is in constant communication with Israeli officials as well as other partners and allies. This attack is likely to unfold over a number of hours. President Biden has been clear: our support for Israel’s security is ironclad. The United States will stand with the people of Israel and support their defense against these threats from Iran," Watson added.

On Saturday afternoon, President Joe Biden abruptly cut short his weekend trip to the beach in Delaware to return to the White House amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Originally scheduled to spend the weekend in Rehoboth Beach, Biden made the decision to leave on Saturday afternoon to convene with his national security team, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The move comes following Biden’s remarks warning of the possibility of an Iranian strike on Israel happening "sooner rather than later."

Further intensifying the situation, Iranian commandos seized a container ship affiliated with Israel near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.

Israel has been cautious towards a possible Iranian attack following the country’s reported airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria two weeks ago. The strike killed two Iranian generals and several other members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force, per the Daily Mail.

When previously questioned about his message to Iran, Biden simply responded with "Don't," a strategy he has attempted to use with other foreign adversaries that has failed to be effective.

"We are devoted to the defense of Israel. We will support Israel. We will help defend Israel. And Iran will not succeed," said Biden.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reaffirmed the United States' commitment to Israel's defense, stating that Israel could rely on full U.S. support against any attacks from Iran and its regional proxies.

The President echoed this commitment in a press conference on Wednesday.

"As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel's security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad. Let me say it again: ironclad," Biden said. "We're going to do all we can to protect Israel's security."
