A 46-year-old English teacher at Terra Linda High School was arrested by police for public intoxication and child endangerment. The incident occurred at roughly noon on Wednesday with Teagan Leonhart being discovered as inebriated on the job.

Leonhart first denied it when questioned by police, but admitted to her consumptions after being tested for substances.

According to San Rafael Police Department Lt. Dan Fink via KRON, a school employee told a school administration she thought Leonhart was intoxicated. They called the cops.

"She consented to a preliminary alcohol screening test which showed she was more than three times the legal limit (if she was driving a vehicle). When confronted with the results of the test, she admitted to consuming some alcohol that morning," explained Fink. Further review discovered that Ms. Leonhart was also high on cannabis and had a prescription drug in her system.

Her test results came back at a 0.24 percent, well above the legal limit.

Fink said the DRE officer on site concluded she was incapable of caring for the dozens of students she was responsible for during the work day.

According to Terra Linda's principal Katy Dunlap, "Terra Linda High School does not comment on personnel matters. The safety and well-being of our students are my highest priority. Ms. Leonhart is currently on paid administrative leave."

She was briefly held in Marin County Jail before being released. Given COVID-19 regulations and the misdemeanor charges against Leonhart, this is considered "normal" according to Newsweek.

PrepScholar ranks Terra Linda High School as one of the "well above average" schools within the state.
