"I don't know what his demise is gonna be, but he'll have his demise."
During a recent podcast after her loss in the senate race in California for late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s seat, Rep Katie Porter said that Trump would "have his demise."
Speaking on her failed campaign and the Democrat Party in general, Porter told Pod Save America, "I think that the specter of Donald Trump looms large and I absolutely feel that and so people were like, we gotta think — every decision has to be made in tension with Trump."
"Soon Trump will lose, or go to prison, or, I don't know, have a heart attack. I'm not sure, I don't know what his demise is gonna be, but he'll have his demise. And the question will still be there, who are we as Democrats?"
The hosts of the podcast chimed in as Porter was speaking on Trump’s demise, "we call it the hamburger from heaven," meaning Trump’s death.
In the California race for Feinstein’s Senate seat, Porter did not advance to November’s ballot, bringing in just 17.2 percent of the vote, according to the Associated Press. Dem Rep Adam Schiff and GOP candidate and former baseball player Steve Garvey advanced, receiving 29.4 and 33.3 percent of the vote, respectively.
Porter's comments come as Trump leads Biden in polling, with RealClearPolling's average of recent surveys finding that the 2024 GOP presumptive nominee leads Biden by 1.7 percent nationwide. As RealClearPolling noted, on March 18 in the 2020 election cycle, Biden was up by 6.4 points.
