Conservative political commentator Candace Owens pushed back on attacks from Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro, who recently called her "absolutely disgraceful," as she appeared on Wednesday's episode of Tucker on X, formerly known as Tucker on Twitter. The two have been publicly sparring over Israel, Gaza and Hamas.

Show host Tucker Carlson kicked off the segment with a montage of various people in the media world laying into Owens over different claims she has made that often fall against the orthodoxy of the mainstream political establishment over the past years.

"Notice why they were attacking Candace Owens," Tucker began. "What did she say? She said, 'well, actually George Floyd was not murdered by a racist cop much less by a systemically racist society.' She said 'actually, the vaccine doesn't work very well. And it may be dangerous.' She went on to say 'no, Ukraine is not going to win the war against Russia,' and for saying these things, every one of which has proven true, she was attacked as an immoral person, a racist, and a traitor to her country. What's interesting, however, is that no one leveling those taxes ever apologized to her. And so maybe like Galileo, she's gonna have to wait for her descendants to get the praise for her truth-telling, and we thought that seems unfair."

Owens joined Carlson, saying that "ad hominem attacks" are frequently employed in the political world in order to dissuade people from having a legitimate debate.

"The internet was dominated yesterday by video of Ben Shapiro," Carlson said, "who you work with at the Daily Wire, I think it's fair to say attacking you, here's the video I just wanna see your reaction."

In the clip, Shapiro could be saying to a crowd of some kind that Owens has "faux sophistication" when she speaks about the conflict with Israel and Gaza and that her conduct on the matter has been "absolutely disgraceful."

Carlson noted that to "call somebody 'absolutely disgraceful,' particularly a co-worker, seems like a pretty big step," and asked Owens, "What is that about?"

"You know, there isn't much of a background I saw the video when everybody else saw it when I woke up," responded Owens, who went on to say that she cannot respond to it "because it's just ad hominem attacks."

Owens said if she "was caught on a video saying that about colleagues that I work with, I would be embarrassed," and added that "the video speaks more to Ben's character that it speaks to mine."

The Daily Wire commentator also noted that she and Shapiro have stood on opposite sides of many major issues in the past few years.

"We disagreed on the COVID vaccine. We disagree on Ukraine and Russia. He has taken virtually every stance has been the opposite of mine on every issue over the last five years," she explained.

"Yeah, he was pro the COVID vaccine, I was anti-vaccine you know, we were all idiots for not getting the vaccine. So that's totally fine. I am totally open to people having a difference in opinion. I would hope that amongst colleagues that it would always be civil disagreement, and I would never in a private event stand on a table and talk badly about Ben."

Carlson responded, "So he was on the left on those three biggest issues is what you're saying."

Owes explained that Shapiro is not her boss, as he is not the CEO of the Daily Wire, and that she has "a very good relationship with the co-CEOs" of the company. She also stressed that she does not "want that video to become a reflection of how the Daily Wire works."

"I love Michael Knowles, love Matt Walsh, Andrew Klavan we all get along really great," Owens said.
