Corporal Timothy O'Connor Jr., 40, was fatally shot during a Sunday night traffic stop in West Caln Township.
NYPD said that "due to a suspicious package," multiple blocks were closed to pedestrians and vehicular traffic, and Carl Schurz Park was closed.
The shooting was near the Agudath Israel of Baltimore synagogue around 12:30 pm.
