Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk attracted attention from fans and haters alike during his appearance on Monday at California's San Jose State University as part of the LIVE FREE TOUR

The conservative commentator saw a sizeable turnout of protestors who opposed him as well as an even larger contingent of Americans who came to listen to what he had to say.

At one point, TPUSA's Morgonn McMichael asked the protestors if they wanted the opportunity to join the event free of charge and ask Kirk a question about a topic they may disagree with.

"I can't hear you," a young masked man shouted with a bullhorn. "Fascists go home!"

Boos from other demonstrators could be heard in the background.

A window was reportedly smashed at the event.

While those demonstrating outdoors did not appear to be pleased about Kirk's presence, photographs inside of the event showed a large and respectful attending audience.

At one point, the outdoor protest morphed into a concert of sorts, with a man singing screamo into a megaphone as a band played in the background.

Another young man was seen chanting, "this is what community looks like," and referring to TPUSA as "fascists" at another moment.

Among the various signs displayed by protestors at the event was one that read, "HOW DO YOU SPELL FASCIST. T-P-U-S-A." Another similar sign stated, "TPUSA=FASCISM."

Kirk made a point to address some of these protestors at the beginning of his speech.

"Who are the fascists?" he asked hypothetically. "The people that are having a free speech event where you can disagree, you can come to the front of the line and have an uninterrupted chance to talk? Or the lunatics playing rock music, screaming into the sky, with barely legible signs saying, 'fascism is so...' do they even know what fascism is?"

"No, of course they don't. And they spelled it wrong, of course they did!"
