Farmer had been charged with burglary and violating a protection order, both felonies, according to court records.
Kevin Farmer, 39, allegedly broke a garage window on Saturday, in order to gain entry into the house of Republican Rosemary Oglesby-Henry, who is a candidate for Ohio's 1st congressional district, according to Blazemedia. There is reported video evidence of the break-in. The victim reported that the two had been in a relationship "many years ago," according to Cincinnati.com.
Although Farmer stated that he would be dropping out of the race, he will still appear on the ballot for today’s election. He is not endorsed by any party. He is considered nonpartisan, although his donation page has an image of a raised fist, often depicted in media of socialists and communists. In a post on X in July, he said that he was a registered Republican and thought it “odd” that the Ohio GOP was not backing him, and tagged Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
There has been some history of incidents between Farmer and Ogelsby-Henry. Farmer was accused of squatting at Ogelsby-Henry’s home in September, and she was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at Farmer at that time. “While Mr. Farmer remains squatting in my home today, he used law enforcement to bring a false case against me and had me jailed without cause,” Oglesby-Henry stated. She denied the claim and said that she fully cooperated with police, and that they did not recover a firearm, however was charged with aggravated menacing.
In July, Farmer was also charged with domestic violence and assault against Oglesby-Henry, but she dropped the charges and was given a protection order against Farmer.
Farmer had been charged with burglary and violating a protection order, both felonies, according to court records. He is being held on a $60,000 bond and, if released, would get an ankle monitor. His next court appearance in Nov. 25.
