Colorado State offers to help triggered students cope with free speech

Recent history involving campus officials suggests that the sign was motivated by the presence of Turning Point USA on school grounds.

Colorado State University saw it necessary to put up a sign directing students to 17 different "resources" in case the student body was somehow affected by the apparent onslaught of a free speech event on school grounds.

The origin of the sign going viral is due to a Turning Point USA chapter's post on Instagram first uploaded last week. The local chapter at Colorado State University posted a picture of the sign that says, "If you (or someone you know) are affected by a free speech event on campus, here are some resources…"

Many of the websites and phone numbers listed are for diversity-related programs. According to Campus Reform, the university had a few politicized incidents during the fall 2021 semester that may have encouraged the sign's placement.

Liberals were involved in confronting members of the conservative TPUSA organization, and as Daily Mail quotes it, those involved said "disrupting one of your activities is actually probably one of the most ethical and best things I can do with my time." A student in a later incident admitted to knocking down Turning Point USA property and physically slapping a member of their team.

In September 2019, Colorado State University President Joyce McConnell sent an email across campus that compared TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk speaking on campus to using blackface and drawing swastikas.

In addition, there was an October 2021 incident where school authorities threatened to arrest unvaccinated students for failing to submit proof of vaccination in order to attend in-person learning.

Over on the East Coast, The Post Millennial's very own Andy Ngo had a Turning Point USA event canceled at Dartmouth College. The "Extremism in America" talk couldn't go on due to security concerns brought forward by Antifa groups.
