CONGRESSIONAL CAT FIGHT: AOC, MTG and Jasmine Crockett battle over 'fake eyelashes,' 'bleach blonde' hair and just who is a 'baby girl'

"I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading."

A verbal cat fight broke out between Reps. Jasmine Crockett, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, with the three hurling insults at each other as the House Oversight Committee held a hearing a motion to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt.

"I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct," Crockett said during the back and forth, being met with a confused "what now" from Chairman James Comer.

Comer and Rep. Jamie Raskin just looked confused.

According to The Hill, the comments lead up to a vote on whether to allow Greene to keep speaking at the hearing. The vote ultimately passed 22-20, allowing her to continue.

Greene had told Crockett that her "fake eyelashes" were preventing her from reading.

Greene asked during the hearing, which was pushed to 11 pm so members of the panel could travel to New York City to support Trump at his trial, if any Democrat members of the committee were employing Judge Merchan’s daughter, who runs a digital advertising agency that has worked on many Dem campaigns and causes.

"Please tell me what that has to do with Merrick Garland," said Crockett. She later added, "do you know what we’re here for?"

"I don’t think you know what you’re here for," Greene said. "I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading."

Ocasio-Cortez yelled "that’s disgusting" in response to the comment, later moving to strike her words calling them "absolutely unacceptable."

"How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person," she said.

Greene responded, "Are your feelings hurt?"

"Oh girl, oh baby girl, don’t even play," Ocasio-Cortez said.

Green responded, "oh really, baby girl?"

The meeting was briefly paused, with Greene agreeing, when they resumed, to strike her words. Ocasio-Cortez demanded that she apologize. Greene said she would not.

"Well then you’re not striking your words," said Ocasio-Cortez.

"Why don’t you debate me," Greene responded, to which Ocasio-Cortez said, "I think it’s pretty self-evident."

"Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence," said Greene, causing uproar among Democrat members of the committee.

Ocasio-Cortez moved to have the comment struck, to which Greene agreed, but she said once again that she would not apologize.

Crockett jumped in to ask if the hypothetical "bleach blonde, bad-built butch body" comment, appearing to be aimed at Greene, would break Congressional protocol.

Rep Anna Paulina Luna demanded that the comment be struck, to which Crockett said, "I’m trying to get clarification."

Luna yelled for Crockett to "calm down," with Crockett responding, "Don’t tell me to calm down."

"Calm down," Luna said once again, adding, "You’re out of control."

"If I come and talk shit about her y’all gonna have a problem," Crockett said.

"I don’t know what you’re acting like that. It’s not cute," Luna responded.

During the back and forth, ranking Member Jamie Raskin said, "I think these 17-hour days might not work for us."

The unruly stretch of the hearing began roughly 30 minutes into the proceedings, finally concluding after the vote to allow Greene to continue speaking.

The committee ultimately voted to hold Garland in contempt, coming hours after the House Judiciary Committee voted similarly. The motion now moves to the House floor.
