Canada's two biggest parties are neck and neck as Canadians go to the polls to elect their next government.

The final polling results released by Ipsos show the Conservatives with a one-point lead over their Liberal rivals:

Since polling started after the snap election was called by Prime Minister Trudeau on Aug. 15 2021, the two parties have crossed each other four times in the polls, at times having substantial double-digit leads over each other.

However, in the last several days, they have been staying within two points of each other, which, naturally, is considered to be the margin of error of the polls.

At the time of calling the election, it appears that Prime Minister Trudeau felt confident that he would be able to increase the Liberal lead, and perhaps even secure a majority government.

According to MacLean's, pollsters at 338 Canada are predicting a Liberal win this time around, but by a tiny margin. Their predictions would have the Liberals winning a mere 146 seats, 11 fewer than the amount they controlled prior to dissolving the House of Commons.
