The widow of Corey Comperatore didn't want to talk to Joe Biden when he called after her husband was fatally shot during an assassination attempt on Donald Trump over the weekend. She said she "didn't want to talk to him."

"I didn’t talk to Biden,” Helen Comperatore told the New York Post. “I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican, and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”

“I don’t have any ill will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics,” she added. “I support Trump. That’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden. He didn’t do anything bad to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.”

Corey was 50 years old at the time of his death and had a career as a firefighter. The married father of two was beloved by his family and shielded them as the rounds were fired off from Thomas Matthew Crooks, around 150 yards away, when the gunman attempted to kill Trump.

Helen Comperatore told the outlet that it was supposed to be an "exciting day" to get out and support Trump with the family. When the shots were fired, Corey yelled, "Get down!" and shielded his family from the bullets. He was struck in the head and died.

Two others were critically injured during the chaos, 57-year-old Marine veteran David Dutch as well as 74-year-old James Copenhaver were also hit by the gunfire. Dutch was put into a medically induced coma in order to be treated for the injuries.
