Demi Lovato resorts back to original female pronouns
“Recently, I’ve been feeling more feminine, and so I’ve adopted she/her again. But I think what’s important is, like, nobody’s perfect,” Lovato said.
“Recently, I’ve been feeling more feminine, and so I’ve adopted she/her again. But I think what’s important is, like, nobody’s perfect,” Lovato said.

Demi Lovato revealed on a podcast that she has adopted her original pronouns "she/her" again, after abandoning them a year ago for a “non-binary” identity, using strictly "they/them" pronouns. Her Instagram profile reflects the change, as "they/them/she/her."
Tamara Dhia, host of the "Spout" podcast, referred to the singer using "they" and "them" during the interview and asked her to explain why she chose they/them pronouns.
"I’ve actually adopted the pronouns of she/her again," Lovato said.
“So, for me, I’m such a fluid person that I don’t really — I don’t find that I am — I felt like, especially last year, my energy was balanced in my masculine and feminine energy so that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said ‘women’ and ‘men,’ I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman. I didn’t feel like a man. I just felt like a human,” she said.
According to gender ideology, "non-binary" identities reject the social roles and stereotypes associated with males and females, which used to be called “gender non-conforming” before activists co-opted the language and made it trendy.
"And that’s what they/them is about for me. It’s just about, like, feeling human at your core," Lovato continued. "Recently, I’ve been feeling more feminine, and so I’ve adopted she/her again. But I think what’s important is, like, nobody’s perfect."
Late April 2022, she quietly updated her Instagram bio to include both they/them and she/her pronouns. The change comes after a May 2021 announcement that she "identified as nonbinary" and would be adopting the pronouns they/them on her podcast "4D With Demi Lovato."
"I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression, and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering," Lovato said at the time.
