On Tuesday, Dave & Buster's announced that it has entered into a partnership with gamification technology company Lucra to offer customers over the age of 18 the ability to place bets on arcade games via the entertainment giant's app.

The new feature is set to be rolled out in 44 states in the coming months.

In a news release, the Dave & Buster's explained that the partnership "integrates Lucra's proprietary gamification software into the Dave & Buster's app, allowing loyalty members to digitally compete with each other, earn rewards, and unlock exclusive perks while competing with friends."

The company said they were "bringing together the sports arena and the arcade for an unparalleled, gamified experience."

"We're thrilled to work with Lucra to bring this exciting new gaming platform to our customers," Dave & Buster's Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Attractions Simon Murray said in a statement. "This new partnership gives our loyalty members real-time, unrivaled gaming experiences, and reinforces our commitment to continuing to elevate our customer experience through innovative, cutting-edge technology."

According to CNBC, while Lucra and Dave & Buster's has noted that there will be a cap on the amount of money customers can bet on games, the exact amount has not been revealed.

The gamification technology company did say, however, that across their lineup of services, the average bet has been around $10.

Lucra COO Micheal Madding made a point of noting that because skills-based games are not subject to the same regulations as chance-based games, they can't technically call the actions a "bet" or "wager," and must instead refer to them as "real-money contests or challenges."

Dave & Buster's was founded in 1982 and has since expanded to over 200 locations across the United States. Aside from playing a variety of new and classic arcade games, customers can eat and drink at the adjoining restaurant and bar.
