Dead cat receives voter registration form

While Democrats in the US push for mail-in ballots to become the norm for voting in Federal elections, a family in Atlanta received a voter registration form for their dead cat. To top it off, Cody the cat has been dead over a decade, according to The Daily Wire.

Carol Tims, who owned the cat, told Fox5 Atlanta that "there's a huge push but if they're trying to register cats, I'm not sure who else they're trying to register." She added "I'm not sure if they're trying to register dogs, mice, snakes."

The form was addressed to Cody Tims, and arrived in the family's mailbox on Wednesday. "He's a cat and he's been dead for a long time," Tims said. The cat, Tims said, had he been a living person who was eligible to vote, would most likely have voted for the Democratic ticket.

She spoke fondly of her late cat, saying Cody was "a great cat, indoor and outdoor," that he "loved his family, loved his neighborhood." Cody was over 18 when he passed 12 years ago.

Inquiries were made as to just how the voter registration form was mailed out in the name of a dead cat.

Fox5 reported that "The Secretary of State’s Office says the application did not come from their office. They say third party groups often use mailing lists to get names and addresses. They released a statement saying: 'Third-party groups all over the country are targeting Georgia to help register qualified individuals. This group makes you wonder what these out-of-town activists are really doing. Make no mistake about it, this office is dedicated to investigating all types of fraud.'"

US President Donald Trump has been vocally opposed to mail-in ballots, saying that "Mail-In Ballot fraud found in many elections. People are just now seeing how bad, dishonest and slow it is. Election results could be delayed for months. No more big election night answers? 1 percent not even counted in 2016. Ridiculous! Just a formula for RIGGING an Election...."

Democrats have pressed for mail-in balloting despite the potential risk of fraud, claiming that the risk is remarkably low. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been a vocal proponent of this form of voting.

The vying concerns are, on the one hand, that the pandemic will make it hard for citizens to cast their ballots because of health risks, while on the other hand, the concern is that dead cats could receive voter registration forms and an unscrupulous person could use that to commit voter fraud.
