A multi-agency manhunt is underway for an armed suspect who allegedly shot two Portland police officers on Monday night. The incident occurred around 8:20 pm near the Lloyd Center mall in Northeast Portland. The injured officers are in stable condition, authorities said.

According to police, officers were responding to reports of a subject armed with a knife who was threatening individuals in the area of Northeast 21st Avenue and Clackamas Street. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect opened fire, striking both officers. The wounded officers were transported to a local hospital and were treated for injuries, including shots to the leg, arm, and ear. Both are expected to survive.

More than 70 police units, including the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), Crisis Negotiation Team, K9 units, and drones, flooded the area, establishing a perimeter and issuing shelter-in-place orders for residents. Officers flooded the area until 5:30 am when the search concluded. The suspect has not been located.

The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) released surveillance images of the suspect, described as a white male in his mid-30s with facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, a black jacket with a gray hoodie underneath, black pants, black shoes, and carrying a black backpack and a green shopping bag. Authorities consider him to be armed and dangerous.

PPB Chief Bob Day addressed reporters late Monday night, calling the incident "very emotional." Mayor Keith Wilson issued brief remarks, where he reminded the community of "the dangers of the job." Streets were blocked off for hours.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, video footage, or sightings of the suspect to contact 911 immediately or email homicidetips@police.portlandoregon.gov, referencing case number 26-18537. The investigation remains active.
