A Democratic candidate running for the state senate in Connecticut made quite the interesting request on Wednesday following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the abortion landmark ruling Roe v. Wade.
In a tweet that has since been deleted, Democratic candidate Trevor Crow invited Republican candidate Ryan Fazio and the Greenwich Republican Town Committee to her next OB/Gyn appointment.
"Do you have a medical degree? Does @ryanfazio have specialty in OB/Gyn? Looking forward to you all being in my next Gyn appointment. Seems you know better than I do," Trevor Crow tweeted on Wednesday.
"Super weird that you are inviting people to your next GYN apt," Greenwich RTC responded.
It's unclear what post she made the comments on since she deleted the tweet after the committee put the rather interesting request on blast, but it seems that she has been feuding with Fazio and the committee on Twitter since the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
According to her campaign website, Crow is a licensed marriage and family therapist, small business owner, single mom, and an advocate for reproductive rights.
In a post on Tuesday, Crow called out Fazio, who is a current Republican state senator, for voting against the state's Reproductive Freedom Act.
"When I am elected to the state senate, I will work to create a state constitutional amendment to protect women’s reproductive rights. My opponent ?@ryanfazio? voted AGAINST Reproductive Freedom Act," Crow said in a Tweet on Tuesday.
The Greenwich Republican Committee defended Fazio and said, "No, @ryanfazio voted FOR women’s SAFETY… @CTDems voted to allow NON doctors to perform abortions, (healthcare, reproductive rights… what ever you guys try to label it as) FACTS MATTER."
"So you and @ryanfazio know more about Women's reproductive health care than https://acog.org ? Check your facts. Increasing access to abortion with advanced practitioners is widely accepted medically and done in 14 other states," Crow responded.
On Friday, the Supreme Court released a ruling in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, that overturned Roe v Wade which legalized abortion at the federal level. At issue in the case was whether all restrictions to abortion prior to viability are unconstitutional, or not. Abortion rights will now be decided by the states.
