Two film companies are working together to produce a documentary on the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson that will examine some of the darker issues exposed by the killing. Anonymous Content and Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Prods are putting the project together, Variety reported.

After a frantic manhunt and video of the accused entering Central Park on an e-bike, there were revelations that the bullets fired at Thompson had messages written on the shell casings: “delay, deny, depose.” Police found the accused killer, Luigi Mangione, at a McDonald’s in Altoona, PA. Mangione was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and came from an affluent Maryland family.

Police say that at the time of Mangione's arrest, he was in possession of a manifesto that criticised American healthcare and insurance companies. Thompson’s killing was actually lauded by some who view the healthcare insurance industry with contempt and others have actually expressed sympathy and praise for the accused Mangione. The documentary will explore America’s often acrimonious relationship with its healthcare system and the healthcare insurance that is often seen as unfair or even corrupt.

Mangione was injured in a surfing accident and underwent back surgery. He was never a subsriber of UnitedHealthcare. Mangione's attorney is New York attorney Karen Friedman-Agnifilo.
