Don Lemon goes after unvaccinated 'idiots' who think they are 'above the law'

"We have to start doing things for the greater good of society and not for idiots who think that they can do their own research, or that they are above the law and they can break the rules."

CNN's Don Lemon went on a rant against the unvaccinated, decrying them for failing to act towards "the greater good of society."

On Tuesday, Don Lemon appeared as a guest on CNN's New Day program, using the opportunity to slam the unvaccinated.

Lemon has long been critical of those who refuse to get inoculated against COVID-19, often referring to them in disparaging terms.

"We have to start doing things for the greater good of society," Lemon said, "and not for idiots who think that they can do their own research, or that they are above the law and they can break the rules."

Lemon then referenced the Novak Djokovic saga, in which the unvaccinated tennis star was deported from Australia for failing to fill out the proper visa form after acquiring a medical exemption.

"Australia said 'No, no, no, no, no. We're gonna look at the greater good of everyone in our society, and you're not part of that,'" said Lemon.

As Fox News reports, New Day hosts John Berman and Kasie Hunt prompted the discussion by showing a video of Mexican news anchor Leonardo Schwebel going on a very passionate rant against the unvaccinated.

"Listen," Lemon said upon seeing the video, "the unvaccinated people in the US are key to the reason that coronavirus – the variants – are emerging … and the reason why it's replicating and mutating. It's because of unvaccinated people who are doing their own 'research' online."

This is not the first time Lemon has applauded efforts to exclude the unvaccinated from civilization. In July 2021, he told former fellow CNN anchor Chris Cuomo that he wanted vaccines to be required for nearly every aspect of daily life, suggesting that rules should be put in place to "demand that people get vaccinated," and that deciding whether to get the jab or not "has nothing to do with freedom" or "liberty."

"You have to have certain rules in a society if we all are going to continue to live and keep each other alive," Lemon continued, comparing not getting vaccinated to speeding on the highway. "You cannot be that selfish, and quite frankly, that ignorant."

COVID-19 cases have continued to rise across the nation, including a marked rise among the vaccinated. Those who have gotten the jab have, however, largely suffered only mild to moderate symptoms, while the majority of people in hospitals continue to be unvaccinated.
