Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump revealed Tuesday he will do "a major interview with Elon Musk" on the night of Monday, Aug. 12. The announcement comes just a few months before the presidential election.

"ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK — Details to follow!" Trump posted on Truth Social.

The announcement comes after Musk’s unequivocal declaration of support for Trump after an assassination attempt on the former president on July 13. “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery."

Some are speculating that the interview will be with Lex Friedman, citing a recent clip of his podcast where Friedman mentioned to Musk that he would be interviewing Trump, and asked Musk if he "wanted to stop by." Musk responded, "cool, yeah sure I'll stop by."

Musk, who has said he voted for Joe Biden in 2016 has become increasingly attracted to and attractive to Trump. The multi-billionaire entrepreneur bought X in what many saw as passionate advocacy of free speech on the internet.

Trump has also reversed his position on electric vehicles – like the kind that Musk, as CEO of Tesla, produces. Trump had described any support for the EV industry as “lunacy." At a Georgia “Make America Great Again” rally in Atlanta, Georgia Saturday, Trump told the crowd, “I’m for electric cars, I have to be because Elon endorsed me very strongly.”

“So I have no choice,” he said.

But Trump has also been gaining increasing support from the high-tech industry, once a bastion of Democratic support. Four years of increasing taxes and regulations have moved companies like Palantir towards the Republican Party and Trump’s potential second presidency.

Trump has also changed his tune on cryptocurrency, once suggesting it was a “scam” but now leading a party that includes support for the monetary option in its platform.

"Republicans will end Democrats’ unlawful and un-American crypto crackdown and oppose the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency," the platform reads. "We will defend the right to mine Bitcoin, and ensure every American has the right to self-custody of their digital assets, and transact free from government surveillance and control".
