NFL Eagles player Darius Slay has said that while he's excited about the first week of football season, he's not looking forward to heading down to Brazil to play he doesn't want  their opening game against the Packers. "You want to know why? I'm gonna tell you why," he said.

"They already told us not to leave the hotel," he said, "they told us we can't do too much going on because the crime is crazy." He questioned why the NFL would want to send players to a place with such a high crime rate.

"I don't have no intentions of doing nothing. I'm going to eat hotel food, I'm doing everything, but, they set me up. It's going to be pretty crazy down there," Slay added. The Eagles player said that there will be flight security for the plane ride down as well as other security measures for the players.

The crime rate in the country’s capital of Sao Paulo is high, however, the homicide rate in Philadelphia is around four times that of Sao Paulo as of 2022.

The stark difference between Philadelphia, which is ranked as the number two most dangerous city in the United States, according to Neightborhood Scout, and Sao Paulo was pointed out by Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec, in response to Slay.

Posobiec wrote, "Dude you play in KILLADELPHIA Bodies dropping all over Eagles country and you’re gonna whine about somewhere else Philly’s homicide rate is 4x higher than Sao Paulo."

According to The Rio Times, in 2022, Sao Paulo had an average homicide rate of 8.4 in 100,000 people. In that same year, according to the New York Dispatch, Philly had a homicide rate of 32 in 100,000.
