"The language used in the video runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization."
The Washington Commanders have suspended its Vice President of Content after he made disparaging remarks about the NFL and its fans in an undercover video by James O’Keefe’s media company, O’Keefe Media Group.
The undercover video posted on X revealed that Rael Enteen had gone on several dates with a journalist working for O’Keefe, during which he made a series of controversial statements. In one clip, Enteen claimed, “Over 50 percent of our roster is either white religious — ‘and God says f*ck the gays’ — another big chunk is very low-income African-American that comes from a community that is inherently very homophobic.” He further described some NFL players as “dumb as all hell.”
Enteen also criticized the NFL fanbase, stating, “Most of the fans, I would say, are high-school-educated alcoholics… There’s fights in the stands all the time.” When asked if he thought the fans were “lower class people,” Enteen responded, “I hate to use that term. I would just say mouth-breathers,” before laughing.
He did not hold back on his opinions about NFL leadership either, referring to Commissioner Roger Goodell as a “$50 million puppet" who is controlled by the team owners. Enteen went on to accuse Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones as being the one who "really runs the NFL" and said he "hates gay people and black people."
Regarding the NFL's social justice initiatives, Enteen dismissed them as “performative,” stating, “It’s not done out of the goodness of their heart and morality. It’s done because George Floyd changed the game.” He explained that the NFL’s focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is more about maintaining a positive public image than genuine progress.
“I think the NFL cares about the bottom line like any corporation, above all else,” Enteen added. “They don’t really need to pinch pennies because they have so much revenue. Therefore, they can faux-prioritize DEI for the sake of good publicity.”
In response to the video, a spokesperson for the Washington Commanders told the New York Post that Enteen had been suspended from his position.
“The language used in the video runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization. We have suspended the employee pending an internal investigation and will reserve further comment at this time,” the spokesperson said.
