Trump announced his support for Cody on Truth Social, describing him as a “MAGA Warrior.”
Cody, a teacher, conservative commentator, and former chairman of the Cocke County Republican Party, secured the Republican nomination after a campaign focused on conservative priorities and his record in local and political activism.
The victory comes after Cody received an endorsement from President Donald Trump earlier in the campaign in May. Trump announced his support for Cody on Truth Social, describing him as a “MAGA Warrior” and praising his background as a teacher, civic leader, and conservative journalist.
In May, Cody talked the endorsement during an appearance on Human Events Daily, saying he learned about Trump’s support while campaigning with his father.
"Man, me and my dad were out knocking doors and like I said, putting up signs and I got, I got a call and, uh, yeah, it's just, I said, I should get ready for a, for my, again, for an Amory Palin, I should get ready for a, a, a post on true social within the hour," Cody said. "And, uh, lo and behold, about an hour later, uh, president, president Trump endorsed our campaign for house district 11 here in the great state of Tennessee."
Cody said receiving Trump’s backing was a major moment for his campaign.
"So honored to have his support. Uh, it is of course, the biggest stamp in Republican politics and in elected office to have the stamp of approval from the president of the United States and the founder of the MAGA movement."
Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec also reacted to the endorsement during the interview, describing his surprise when Trump’s post appeared.
"It's amazing. And I just have to say congratulations on your, I saw it a couple, I guess it was over the weekend where, you know, we get in this post and suddenly I'm on true social. I've got my notifications on for it as usual. And I see the president posting. I said, what president posted? He said, wait a minute, he's posted about Kenny Cody. What happened there? Tell us the story."
Trump wrote in his endorsement: "It is my Great Honor to endorse MAGA Warrior, Kenny Cody, who is running to represent the fantastic people of Tennessee's 11th State House District."
He also praised Cody’s background and said he would work to promote conservative policies in the state legislature.
Cody previously served as chairman of the Cocke County Republican Party and has worked as a conservative columnist and commentator.
