X owner Elon Musk took to his own platform on Sunday to blast Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal-controlled government over its efforts to control and censor the free expression of the people.

"Trudeau is trying to crush free speech in Canada," Musk posted on X. "Shameful."

The tech mogul was reacting to a post by American journalist Glenn Greenwald, who wrote: "The Canadian government, armed with one of the world's most repressive online censorship schemes, announces that all 'online streaming services that offer podcasts' must formally register with the government to permit regulatory controls..."

Greenwald shared a screenshot and link to a Canadian government website that details a so-called "regulatory plan to modernize Canada’s broadcasting framework."

The Canadian government notes that it will "ensure online streaming services make meaningful contributions to Canadian and Indigenous content."

Currently, the Canadian government's new rules will apply to individuals who are bringing in a revenue greater than $10,000,000.

This news comes just after Joe Biden attacked Elon Musk's platform for a supposed increase of ‘misinformation’ seen ever since it had been acquired.

"Where do people get their news?" Biden asked hypothetically as he discussed X. "They, they, they, they, they go online, they go, and you have no notion whether it's true or not."
