"There's been a lot of building—protests and activism against ICE on campus."
Speaking with The Post Millennial, President of Penn State College Republicans Tristin Kilgore said that the flyers and those who posted them are currently under police investigation at the college and that it is currently an "open investigation."
The Penn State GOP posted an image of the flyer on January 31, "Radical Leftists at Penn State post DEATH THREATS against ICE Agents on campus. A student even shared it PUBLICLY on their story. Conservative students do not feel safe. This violent extremism MUST be stopped!"
Penn State GOP press secretary Collin Jones, told TPM, "What happened on our campus has truly crossed a serious line. Depicting violence against federal law enforcement and celebrating their deaths is not protest or political speech, it is a call for violence. The Penn State GOP fully supports free speech, but threats are not protected, and both the law and Penn State’s own policies are clear on that."
"We hope Penn State properly investigates this incident and makes further strides to ensure all students feel safe to express themselves," Jones added.
Kilgore said that the flyer was initially shared on the personal Instagram of a student on campus, but it is not clear yet who distributed the flyers on campus. "One of our [club] members let us know that they had seen on an undergraduate student's Instagram story, a photo, which is the photo that we've been sharing of this poster that says, "'Dead ICE agents can't kill,' and has a image of a lynched ICE agent."
He added that there could be multiple people involved with the distribution of the flyers as there have been people sharing it on social media. When asked about what the campus environment has been like with respect for ICE, Kilgore said that other anti-ICE flyers have been distributed, including one that claimed, "ICE agents kidnap students" that was posted by the "Student Committee for Defense and Solidarity" (SCDS).

"There's been a lot of building—protests and activism against ICE on campus. It's something where we've seen various posters being put up throughout the school year," Kilgore added.
SCDS has participated as well as promoted anti-ICE demonstrations near campus, which Kilgore said have consisted of both students on campus as well as outsiders. The group features the burning of the American flag as well as well as anti-ICE sentiments on their social media pages.

Some of the protests, he added, have also had the presence of groups similar to Antifa. “You can very much see is very much like Antifa-style activists and people coming out. But there's a number of organizations that are working together on these protests and on these events that are like a lot of them are openly like revolutionary groups,” he said.

At Penn State, although the student body is usually more balanced politically, there have been violent far-left reactions to conservatives before. A riot broke out in 2022 in reaction to Alex Stein’s appearance at Penn State and the school cut the mics at Jack Posobiec and the late Charlie Kirk’s “You’re being brainwashed” tour with Turning Point Action.
A spokesman for Penn State told TPM, "Penn State condemns this and any calls for violence or attempts to frighten or intimidate. We are aware of this image circulating online, and University Police and Public Safety is investigating."
