Four males and one female ranging in age from 18 to 22 were injured in the shooting.
Five people were injured on Tuesday night after a shooting took place on Baltimore’s Morgan State University campus, and the suspect is currently at large.
At approximately 10 pm, Baltimore Police posted on X that they were responding to an active shooter situation at one of the school’s student dormitories located on the 1700 block of Argonne Drive.
The historically black university has more than 9,000 students. The police asked students and staff to shelter in place and avoid the area, and encouraged family members to meet at a nearby Safeway location.
The shelter-in-place was lifted around midnight Wednesday.
According to the Daily Mail, four males and one female ranging in age from 18 to 22 were injured in the shooting. Four of the injured were confirmed to be Morgan State students.
The shooting occurred as the university held its pre-Homecoming ball, during which their "Mister & Miss Morgan State University" was crowned.
In an early morning news conference, police said they haven’t arrested any suspects, and could not confirm if there was more than one shooter involved.
Baltimore City Council Member Ryan Dorsey said earlier Tuesday that police believed there to be three gunmen involved.
"Just received a call from BPD about a shooting at the Morgan campus. Five victims, none critical. It’s believed there were three shooters firing into the crowd, none apprehended or ID’d at this time."
According to the Baltimore Sun, the school canceled classes for Wednesday, and a glass repair truck was seen at the campus outside of the Carl J Murphy Fine Arts Center, where two bullet holes were seen in separate windows high on the building.
